This past weekend, I had the pleasure to participate in Technica -- the world's largest hackathon for underrepresented genders. I had fond memories of the first one I went to last year, even though I didn't win anything, and this year I was determined to make the most of my time. With my friends Sabrina Huang, Emma Tong, and Amy Xu in tow, we set off to create Make Cents, a game that provides a visual demonstration of budgeting, where to allocate your savings, and scenarios to get the user thinking about good spending habits. The game, developed in Godot Engine, deployed on itch.io, and utilizing assets made on Asperite, taught us a lot along the way. Our motto: "Learning about budgeting shouldn't have to be hard. We want to help you make it *make cents* (sense)!" I am thrilled to share that we won the "Best Use of FinTech" category sponsored by T. Rowe Price! I am grateful to the judges, participants, mentors, and most of all, my friends, for making this such a memorable event. (And, shoutout to Annaika T. for letting me know about this opportunity in the first place! Thank you so much!) Interested in learning more about our hack? 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I am thrilled to share with you my recent triumph at my very first hackathon! 🎉🚀 In my latest blog post, "From Idea to Victory: My Hackathon Triumph for Inclusion in Tech," I take you on a journey through my experience as a junior software developer, sharing the invaluable lessons I learned along the way. 💡💪 Participating in the Athena Hackathon, a prestigious event focused on empowering women and non-binaries in tech, was a milestone in my career. 🙌 The competition challenged us to confront complex problems and bring forth innovative solutions in just 24 hours. In the blog post, I delve into the three themes given by the main sponsors: Cisco Hack, CodeNode, and ShowCode. We chose to tackle the CodeNode theme, aligning it with our skills and contributing meaningfully to CodeNode's sustainability goals. 🌱 Our winning solution, EcoNode, aimed to optimize resource usage and help CodeNode meet its ESG goals. By leveraging smart building technologies, EcoNode provided insights into energy consumption patterns, identified resource usage hotspots, and suggested reduction strategies. 🌍💡 But winning wasn't just about the solution itself. The power of presentation played a crucial role. I elaborate on the importance of storytelling and offer…
