Registration for Technica 2023, the world’s largest hackathon for underrepresented genders, is open! This year, Technica will be held Technica will be held October 21-22nd in The Hotel at UMD  
 
All female, non-binary, trans, and other individuals who identify as an underrepresented gender are invited! 
 
Come to network with our 20 corporate sponsors (including Bloomberg and Bank of America), learn via workshops and tech talks, get inspired by keynote speakers, have fun at mini-events, earn prizes by working on a project, and get swag!

Computing Events in the DMV

The Maryland STEM Festival is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that takes place every Fall. They will be hosting hundreds of events focused on fun, interactive science learning opportunities. Students, families, friends, STEM professionals, teachers, and volunteers will all enjoy events taking place throughout Maryland.

The Festival highlights the educational, cultural, and financial impact of science in this state. Through hands-on activities, talks, lab tours, nature experiences, expos, exhibits, and performances, the Festival engages a wide range of public audiences while inspiring future generations.

On October 7-8NASA is inviting coders, entrepreneurs, students, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists, and technologists to come together in a global hackathon. Over two days, participants from around the world will create in-person and virtual teams to solve challenges using NASA’s open-source data

No coding experience is required. Participants of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to join.

Brook Codes is hosting a virtual hackathon on October 14th & 15th! 

This event includes various workshops on computer science topics, a panel, fun activities, and mentors to assist you with your projects. No prior coding experience is necessary.

Join Boolean Girl for a special free Hour of Code event. During this event, participants will learn to write a Scratch program with a loop. Girl Scouts who also attend one of our free Ambassador sessions will earn their Coding Basics Badge. All kids are welcome, membership in the Girl Scouts is not required. Join Black Kids Code (Girls) for their new virtual Exposure to Python Programming Workshop on Saturday, October 21st, and October 28th, 2023, for girls (ages 9-17).

Our Exposure to Python curriculum is thoroughly designed to accommodate all levels of learners, from beginners taking their first steps into the world of programming, intermediate learners looking to deepen their understanding, to advanced learners seeking to consolidate and expand their knowledge in Python programming.
