Welcome back to another year with the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing (I4C) and the Maryland Center for Women in Computing (MCWIC). In this month's newsletter, you will find the latest updates about our fall outreach programs, workshops, and events. 

As a reminder, due to the effects of COVID-19, some of our fall 2021 programs will be offered online.

Get involved with I4C


The Creative Computing Program seeks to provide all students in grades 4-8, including those who identify as a girl and/or as Black, Latinx, or Native American access to new computer science concepts. We encourage all students to register ASAP.

The program begins on September 27th.

We are proud to present our Cybersecurity workshop series for individual Girl Scouts and Girl Scout troops in elementary-high school to earn their badges in celebration of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October. We will provide a dynamic virtual experience for girl scouts to “build their courage, confidence, and character” while engaging in discussions, exercises, and individual projects in real world situations.

Girls who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.

Awards & Scholarships

You are the future of tech! 

Join a network of more than 20,000 women, genderqueer, and non-binary technologists


The National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT) is recognizing 9-12th graders who identify as women, genderqueer, and non-binary for their computer-related achievements and interests. 

Selection is based on aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education. 

Applications open September 1st, 2021
Apply by November 5, 2021
 


Calling all educators (teachers, counselors, coaches, mentors, and others) who support students’ interest in tech!

Are you formally (or informally) supporting high school women, genderqueer, or non-binary high school student's interests in tech? NCWIT wants to recognize you for your work!

Apply for the Aspirations in Computing Educator Award by Dec. 6:

Winners may receive professional development funds, increased visibility from their school district and community, and cash prizes.
