Iribe Center for Diversity & Inclusion in Computing

#UMDSolidarity

The UMD community must be even more committed to our mission of building a supportive, respectful & inclusive environment. Words aren’t enough. We have to act! We must learn to be anti-racist in the face of racism whenever & wherever it occurs.

Here at the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing we stand firm in our commitment to make computing a field that includes participation of individuals across the intersections of gender identification, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and disability status. We aim to create a vibrant, inclusive community of students, educators, and researchers coming together to increase the involvement—and success—of underrepresented populations interested in computing.

Women in Engineering

A. James Clark School of Engineering's Women in Engineering presents...

Virtual Program: How Can Data Predict What is Next?
Are you interested in how data can predict "what's next," create compelling arguments, or guide our actions and decisions?  Then this summer experience might be for you! Data science demonstrates how we use data to characterize, visualize, and operationalize our decision-making processes. Modeling and analyzing data form the foundation of policies you are affected by, public planning you interact with, how economies operate, and more.
Woven throughout the experience, you will engage with current women students in engineering and engineering professionals who can serve as mentors and role-models.  Virtual opportunities to connect may include panel discussions, presentations from professionals in the field, conversations about challenges and opportunities for women in engineering, community building activities, and more!

Program Dates: Monday, July 20 - Thursday, August 13, 2020
Program Days:   Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Program Times:  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
