Create Tech is a two-week non-residential summer program where rising 8thβ12th graders create wearable and interactive technology using a combination of Python, Circuit Playground Express, raw materials and makerspace equipment. Students spend the weeks with current UMD undergraduate computing students and participate in lab visits and field trips.
Note: Students with previous computing experience should explore one of our other camps, as this is created to be an introduction to computing.

*Field trips and guest speakers are scheduled during Classroom Instruction time blocks.
Additional activities may include a campus tour, a local community field trip, intro computing exercises, team-building exercises, lab visits and guest speakers. Please note that the schedule is subject to change as new opportunities arise.
An unofficial transcript, or most recent grade report, is required, along with the names and emails of two references.
All applicants must submit their most recent UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS to this secure folder. Applications without corresponding transcripts will not be evaluated for the program. Transcripts must be sent within two weeks of the submitted application.
All participants must supply a name and email for two references. At least one reference should be a math, science, technology, computing, cyber or robotics teacher. The other reference can be an instructor, mentor, workshop leader, etc. References will be contacted via email to complete a reference form. If you need to update or provide additional information about your reference, please email i4c_k12@umd.edu.

The cost to attend this two-week program is $500. This fee covers program materials and activity costs. Please do not include the fee at the time of application. The fee is due upon acceptance to the program.
You can receive a 100% refund for requests prior to the first Friday in May and a 50% refund by the last Friday in June.
