Alumni Engagement
Our alumni embody the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing’s (I4C) mission in action.
I4C has several opportunities for you to stay involved with our inclusive computing community here at the University of Maryland. See dates and details here.
Mentorship helps members of underrepresented genders in tech persist to graduation. Industry connections are crucial in helping students achieve their professional goals. Mentoring occurs virtually via Terrapins Connect, with opportunities for you to meet your mentee in person if desired. Mentors commit to meeting with mentees for one hour a week for six weeks, and the program runs twice a year in the spring. Learn more about the Mentoring Program.
Throughout the year, the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing has speaking opportunities for alumni to share their own experiences in tech and engage with our student population. Email i4c@umd.edu for more information and see upcoming events and engagement opportunities.
The Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing runs several experiential learning programs — including Guild, Career Launch and Sprinternship — to ignite an interest in tech and encourage the career journeys of students from underrepresented backgrounds. Alumni can coach students through design thinking exercises, offer personal project support during office hours and/or host students at their organization. Volunteer commitments start as small as one hour of time. Email i4c@umd.edu for more information about these opportunities.
